What were the main production needs or critical issues that led you to plan this intervention?
The primary need was to reduce energy consumption and its environmental impact.

Why did you decide to invest specifically in this plant or line?
We chose this line because it operates with greater continuity and is the one with the highest energy consumption. Reducing its impact was therefore a priority, also from an environmental perspective. Furthermore, we pay close attention to maintaining our EPD certification, which requires constant monitoring of energy performance.

How does this project fit into your technological evolution strategy?
It represents a significant first step toward energy efficiency, in line with the requirements of the ISO 50001 energy management system.

2. Intervention Details

Which machinery, technologies, or processes will be upgraded?
The extrusion press, the cooling hoods, and the introduction of a state-of-the-art power quality system.

Does the intervention include new automation logics or digital interconnection?
Yes, the integration and data exchange between the MES system and the machine are essential.

Will sensors, intelligent control systems, or real-time monitoring software be implemented?
Yes, the entire plant will be supervised by a metering system connected to the motors involved in the intervention.

Will improved or safer human-machine interaction systems be introduced?
Yes, brand-new human-machine interface (HMI) systems will be implemented.

3. Environmental Impact and Energy Efficiency

How will this project contribute to reducing energy consumption?
The installation of next-generation, modern, and more efficient motors will enable a significant reduction in consumption. In addition, the power quality system will ensure a more stable and high-performing energy supply.

Have you estimated the potential energy savings or efficiency gains at the end of the project?
We estimate an improvement of over 5%.

4. Human-Centric Approach (Industry 5.0)

Will personnel be supported through collaborative technologies, intuitive interfaces, or specific training?
Yes, with direct support from those who designed and developed the PLC software and logic, through training activities and operational assistance.

Which internal skills will be strengthened thanks to this investment?
The focus on sustainability and the green transition will help reinforce employee motivation, as they are proud to work for a company that respects the environment. Furthermore, optimizing the plants through refurbishment rather than decommissioning will reduce waste and scrap, enhancing skills in sustainable resource management.

5. Expected Results and KPIs

What production improvements do you expect (cycle times, quality, traceability)?
We aim to maintain current cycle times without compromising production capacity, while simultaneously achieving improved energy efficiency.

What impact do you foresee on plant reliability and production continuity?
Reliability will be strengthened through the replacement of motors, some of which had been operating for over 20 years.

Will this intervention allow you to be more competitive or flexible in the market?
Yes, we expect to increase our competitiveness, particularly thanks to our green positioning.

6. Funding and Industry 5.0 Recognition

To what extent is this project consistent with the criteria required for Industry 5.0 funding?
The investment concerns tangible assets that enable an energy consumption reduction of more than 5%. The estimated annual saving amounts to 54.5 TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent).
